TRANSFORMATIONAL CAR PARK LIGHTING

International Restaurant Chain Site Development

THE BRIEF

We were approached by street furniture installation and maintenance specialists, CS Mitchell, to find a car park lighting solution for a new restaurant location to be developed by an International restaurant chain. The site was formerly occupied by a public house in a central village location, but had become an eye-sore in the local area since the public house had gone out of business. The site was dark, derelict and potentially unsafe to the public. 

The client wanted to use lanterns that were complimentary to the listed building they were redeveloping, and that the necessary lighting levels were provided from as few positions as possible.

THE SOLUTION

The client required that the car park lighting provided an illuminance of 30 lux, but had not specified any details or requirements on the plan and layout of the lighting across the site. This gave our specialist lighting design team creative freedom to design a lighting layout for the entrance, drive-through and car park of the site, keeping in mind that the client wanted to keep the number of lighting positions to a minimum. 

After assessing a number of options, our team selected Thorlux Juno lanterns - a product with modern styling that is attractive by day and efficient at night, with its forward-throw asymmetric optical design that projects light forwards. 

The team created lighting design plans that were reviewed with both the contractor and client before sign-off, and coordinated with the product manufacturer to secure just-in-time delivery for quick installation.
